Our aim is to develop, validate and distribute sight enhancing technologies to improve the quality of life for blind and partially sighted individuals around the world.

Mr Zhang is a seasoned businessman with recognise repute in developing and supporting technology led companies. Jiangong has invested in many other Oxford University spinouts including OxSight and considers the venture of immense value to the society. As the Chairman, he is guiding OxSight though the critical initial phases and helping the company with an introduction to the Chinese market.

Dr Rakesh Roshan

Rakesh is a serial entrepreneur with a strong track record in the formation and growth of technology led international ventures. Dr Roshan is a resilient and conscientious leader with extensive accomplishments in directing cross-cultural, multidisciplinary teams to negotiate and manage complex business transactions. Rakesh is Physics PhD graduate from the University of Oxford. After graduating from Oxford, he has worked for a leading Japanese electronics firm, in their R&D wing where he supervised the development of several cutting-edge technologies, at different levels of the value chain. Dr Roshan has invented several technologies that have been integrated into commercial products.

Stephen is an OxSight academic co-Founder and Lecturer in Neuroscience and Visual Prosthetics at the University of Oxford. He is the head of the Smart Specs Research Group at Oxford and is a leader in the field of augmented reality and computer vision for the enhancement of sight. He has received several prestigious awards for his work including the Royal Society Award for Innovation and the Google Global Impact Award in 2015. He now directs innovations within OxSight.

Professor Torr is an internationally recognised scientist leading in computer vision and machine learning, and runs the Torr Vision Group at the University of Oxford, which has won awards in all the main computer vision conferences including the Marr prize. Specifically, in the augmented reality space, he was involved in the spin out 2d3 whose post production software won a Technical Emmy. Phil has worked with the Microsoft Kinect team and with Sony on their Augmented Reality PlayStation software for the Eye Toy. Phil closely advises companies developing autonomous vehicle technologies.

Jian Cao

Jian Cao founded RTC Innovation Ltd in 2009 and has lead £15million of venture capital investments in the past 5 years. Ventures include: Oxford Multi Spectral Ltd, Oxford Vacmedix Ltd, OxEML, Oxford PV, 3D Engine Ltd, Silicon Fuel Ltd and Oxsight Ltd. Jian has a multidisciplinary background in Accounting & Finance from Tianjin University of Commerce (BSc), Computer Science from the University of Birmingham (MSc) and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham (PhD). He currently sits on the Board of Directors in several start-up companies.

Jian has previously worked in research for companies like Corus (UK), Israel Aircraft Industries, IMRA (Japan), and Shougang Research Institute of Technology (China). He has also worked as accountant for China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

Stephen has considerable board level experience for managing and supporting new spinout companies. He spent eight years as Managing Partner of Technikos LLP, an early stage venture capital fund with a long term commercial contract with Oxford University’s Bio-medical Engineering Department. Responsibilities included deal origination, due diligence, fund raising, board representation (as NED or Chairman), compliance, and LP reporting. Between 2011 and 2015 he Stephen worked part time for a Technikos portfolio company in an operational capacity, helping the business grow from 3 to over 25 employees. During Stephen’s time at Technikos he helped grow the portfolio to 15 companies (14 life sciences and one clean tech).

Stephen previously worked for 10 years in the City, as an institutional specialist, focusing exclusively on the life sciences sector.

Iain is a computer scientist with a background in developing medical devices for use in research at the University of Oxford, mostly for use within MRI scanners.  Iain has been involved with the Smart Glasses project since 2011 where his responsibility has been to lead the technical side of the feasibility studies on the Smart Glasses. Iain continues to be an academic within the University of Oxford, concentrating on improving the smart glasses for central vision loss. He is about to embark on further clinical trials.

Rajeev is an organisation builder and has a track record over 35 years to provide high growth in the businesses he has been associated with. He is a highly experienced senior management executive who has built high performance organizations and played a leadership role globally in one of the world’s most successful start-up that became a $6b company in a little over two decades.  Rajeev mentored some key start-ups thru creating a culture of a winning entrepreneurial organization, strategic & tactical thinking and leveraging his network for profitable growth. Over the last 2 years, as President -Strategic Business, Mphasis, a Hewlett Packard company, he led the creation of growth engines globally. Prior to Mphasis, he worked as President, HCL Technologies’, Europe, which accounted for 28% of Sales revenue with profitable growth. His other relevant attributes include new client acquisitions, large deal acquisitions and global sales for innovative next-gen solutions especially in Digital Technologies.

Professor Mehta is blind from childhood and has been an inspiration to many.  Urmish’s musical ability has been recognised through many awards including The President’s award in 1987 for being outstanding differently-abled student and he came first in an all India competition for classical vocal music. In 2008 Urmish was felicitated by the governor of Gujarat for his contribution in the field of music. He has travelled nationally and internationally, giving musical performances and has composed written and rendered several songs to help state government initiatives. Prof Mehta works as an Associate Professor and is Head of the Department of English at Gujarat college Ahmedabad, India.  He teaches communication skills, English literature and Business English at various levels. Urmish has published an audio magazine to help students speak and learn English effectively and is also actively involved in promoting understanding of the English language amongst college students, in particular visually impaired students.
